BUENOS AIRES - ARGENTINA

Few countries feel as attached and captivated by their capital as Argentina is by Buenos Aires. Located in the plain of the pampas and on the banks of the Río de La Plata, it had its splendor from 1880 due mainly to the export of meat to Europe. Many of the hispanic colonial buildings were demolished to plagiarize the dream image of Paris. There were moments of excess, glamour and wealth. Buenos Aires became the epicenter of fashion, culture and the arts worldwide. Then there was the italian and spanish exodus to Argentine lands due to famine and european wars. The inhabitants of BSAS are known as “porteños”. They are said to be creative, seductive, urban, educated and very melancholic.

It is a city of atmospheres, of color, of life, of enjoying it on the street. Eating a good grilled meat accompanied by red wine is a must for any visitor.

Faced with the ever-present brilliance and humor of Buenos Aires, we have in tango its other face in the form of nostalgy, jealousy and loneliness. Its origins go back to the suburbs and brothels of the port area. It was danced between men. Little by little it became popular in the working class of Buenos Aires, turning out to be vulgar and frowned upon in the upper classes of society. It soon arrived in Europe causing a furor and conquering salons. The french called tango the essence of the latin style. In 1917, one of the greats in the history of music called Carlos Gardel emerged. Known as the “Morocho del Abasto”, his sudden death quickly turned him into a myth.
